Over 50% of the requested features/updates that were submitted through the feedback form have been incorporated or have been prioritized for user-support material development. We know there are still some significant features that have been requested and we want them too! Please know we are moving forward with a slimmed down development team due to reduced budgets but are committed to finding interim solutions to continue.

What’s planned for FY2026?

The WFDSS team will start Fiscal Year 2026 with a focus on Operations and Maintenance (O&M). O&M means more than just keeping the system up and available - Our development team will be hard at work ensuring that the operating system and infrastructure remains up to date, identifying and resolving bugs, improving system performance and stability, and strengthening integration with other systems.

The team was unsuccessful in securing funds for continued Development, Modernization and Enhancement (DME), which resulted in an 80 percent reduction in our development staff for FY2026. This means that no new features will be introduced but work will continue, where possible, on existing features within the application. As we explore options, opportunities and alternative solutions to bring you notifications, ways to visualize outputs from fire behavior models, improved map performance and a comprehensive user support ticketing system, we encourage you to continue to provide feedback. Of the feedback that has been submitted in the last year, over 50% has been incorporated either into the WFDSS application or an in-house developed solution like the Spatial Fire Planning Service.
